YOUNSTERS LEARNING A BASIC BLOCK

PARRY AND COUNTER

Mohan Karate is based on Kempo meaning Hard Fist. One of Japans oldest forms of Martial Arts

Kempo-Jitsu was the fighting art of the Samurai Warrior and was quite probably one of the earliest forms of Unarmed Combat.

It was vitally important, in battlefield conditions, to do as much damage to your enemy as possible in the shortest possible time. This was even more important if your opponent had a weapon and you didn’t. This, it is believed where Kempo developed from.

It is even possible that the occupants of Okinawa seeing the use of Kempo developed what is now seen to be Karate Jitsu (the art of the empty hand) now more widely known as Karate Do (the way of the empty hand).

Mohan Karate teaches these original styles dating back over a 1000 years.

The style taught to children is Kemp –do, which is a safe, disciplined style ideal for the younger practitioner, teaching control, discipline, focus, balance and is an ideal form of self-defence.

That taught to the adult is Kempo-Jitsu a much more aggressive style based on the original form of unarmed combat and is ideal for anyone wanting to learn a really effective form of self-defence, or wanting to go into MMA or even join the forces.

At present formal classes are only held in Kempo-do, however adult wanting to learn Kempo-Jitsu can contact Sensei Graham for more information.
